I said I might rue leaving out teenager Jakub Mensik in Miami last week. And so it happened…
The 19-year-old Mensik - who featured as one of three highlighted men in our Ones to Watch in 2025 ‘Czech List’ report ahead of this season - won his first ever senior ATP title on Sunday night…
And young Jakub has announced himself in style. Kicking off the trophy-winning with a high-ranking ATP 1000 Masters title, the Miami Open - and beating world superstar Novak Djokovic in the final.
Mensik went off at a top price 250/1 with Unibet a couple of weeks back… I then mentioned the teenager when he was 25/1 tops during the tournament, and 18/1 in general… stating fitness concerns, I left him out…
If you read this report with words from Jakub himself, you can see why I was concerned (in short: he literally went to the officials to withdraw from the Miami Open, but the room was empty at the time… and the rest is now history!).
